Every vehicle paintwork or colour tone has a defined brightness wheel. If this does not match the degree of brightness of the substrate, this affects the covering power of the colour tone, the colour tone accuracy. The overall impression of the colour tone then does not match.
The right choice of filler for the substrate and the following paint job has a decisive influence on the process costs, especially when repairing minor damage. This is because fewer coats of basecoat will save paint and achieve the optimum end result much faster.
To illustrate the effects of the different primer colours from white to black, Ralf Ertle has produced a sample sheet with a red paint.
The filling primer is a combination product of primer and filler, it is suitable as a rust protection primer and has other product advantages, especially when used in spot repairs. When isolating sanded-through areas, its use ensures the colour identity of the factory primer during the paint repair. It can be used directly on a wide range of metal substrates. Primer Shade can be applied wet-on-wet, has a high filling power and offers smooth levelling. It is easy to sand and can be painted over with all common paint systems, water-based or solvent-based paints.
Tip:
If you find it difficult to choose the right brightness level, or if you don't yet have the trained eye of a painter, here's our tip: Simply take a photo of the paint with your mobile phone and set it to black and white mode. Now the previously coloured paint is just a shade of grey that can be compared with the colour of the filler primer.
